Summer Break is a 96 hour non stop festival, which takes place in Newquay every June.

Pitched as the "reason you became a student", the event takes place over two separate weekends, featuring live music, beach activities both sports and "banter-antics" inspired, as well as night time parties in surrounding clubs and venues.


2012 line-up, news and rumours

So far the line-up has yet to be revealed, however the running dates of the festival have been confirmed as the following:

  • 10th - 14th June 2012
  • 17th - 21th June 2012

The Campus Invasion Tour

Coming to a campus near you is "Pammy" the official Summer Break caravan, not only will their be many SB giveaways, but one lucky person from each uni visited will be in with a chance to win a trip to Summer Break.


Described as "the UK's answer to the USA 'Spring Break'", and seen for many as the best way to end a student year.

96 hours of non stop partying with live music, crazy beach games, beach raves and BBQ’s.

Ticket buyers also have access to exclusive accommodation in the 'Student Village', as well as entry to all the Summer Break clubs.

Inside the Student Village you can expect bonfires, caravan hopping and all sorts of wild activity and adventures.

It is Europe's largest fully organised holiday and Newquay is often regarded as a party mecca in the UK, due it's setting and location.

History and Facts

Originating in 2005, the idea for the event came when at the beginning of summer organisers questioned "Why should Americans have all the fun?"

Since it's creation Summer Break has seen over 50,000 students attend the event, with acts such as Tinie Tempah, Subfocus, Pendulum, Example, Caspa, Jaguar Skills having played in the past.

Music Stage and other entertainment:

In the "Student Village" area there is an outdoor stage where many of the billed acts will be playing, and you can also expect to enjoy live music at the clubs in the evenings, as well as live music on beach throughout the day.

There is so much entertainment to enjoy at Summer Break, it can be split into the following three sections:

  • Beach Antics

Which includes Beach Olympics, The Blindfold Sack Race, Mr and Miss Summer Break, Beer Can Dash, Marshmallow Eating and much more fun in the sand.

  • Adrenaline Activites

Surfing, Zip Wire, Abseiling right down to Volley Ball, 5 a side football and a good ole Tug Of War.

  • The Parties

Fancy dress shenanigans and all kinds of banter at local clubs Sailors, Berties and Waves.

Camping and other Accommodation

With a variety of price plans to fit all, there are many ways you can enjoy your stay and experience at Summer Break.

Set up in Trevelgue Holiday Park, the infamous 'Student Village' offers you the chance to caravan or camp.

The holiday park itself has a heated outdoor pool, an onsite fish and chip shop, a Cornish cafe serving the best in local produce, an on site burger van, cash machines, parking and all the usual on site facilities you need to be watered and feed.


This is viewed as the more popular choice purely for mixing luxury with atmosphere.

Available in 4,5,6 and 8 berths, each caravan has massive living rooms for your own mini-parties, showers, toilets, a colour tv, a gas fire and a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, a cooker and cutlery.

If you prefer a more old-school festival experience, there is also the campsite, with a mini-mart, off license and surf shop.

Unlike many festival camp-sites there are also no size restrictions!

Campus to coast coaches

Collecting you from your uni campus, the shuttle bus services not only rids the stress of taking your car, you can also have a mini party en route to the festival, below are the prices depending on what unis you are travelling from:

Festival Shuttle Bus

For just £15, you can use the Summer Break Shuttle bus which takes you from the campsite to the beach and clubs. A bargain considering one taxi journey alone will cost would cost you £20

It's important to note that a damage deposit of £50 is taken, but if you behave yourself and the vans aren't ruined, you get the deposit back
