Originally started as a showcase event of the UK's Northwest acts at America's SXSW, the event developed in a festival of it's own, as well as inspiring New York's Sound City festival.

Vibe

An internationally respected 3 day international music, media and technology conference combined with an arts and music festival, the ethos of the festival is focue on the current zeitgest bringing together professionals and music fans from Europe and beyond.

Speakers and delegates are invited from 23 countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA.

Gathering the best in 21st century pop/tech culture, the festival regards itself as forward thinking, inspiring different ways of doing business, and presenting a new forum for people to learn and grow from.

  • Youth Live: A programme of events aimed at young people in bands aged 16-19
  • The Expo: Going beyong the traditional staid music trade shows, the Expo provides " both consumers and music/digital professionals to the people, tools and services they will need as we move ever onwards in the digital age."
  • The UK Music Student Awards: taking place on 17th May, an evening celebrating and identifying the bands of our future.
  • The Conference: Key speakers, tech sites, new projects, panel discussions and much more.

Beginning as a showcase event at SXSW, During the Capital Of Culture year 2008, the first proper Sound City took place in Liverpool.
