Sónar is known for being at the forefront of electronic experimentation with its avant- garde style and captivating nature.
Now entering its 21st year, Sónar has built up a leading global reputation and has continued to welcome the latest cutting edge musical trends to the Spanish stage.
This year’s festival will run for three packed days and nights between Thursday 18th June and Saturday 20th June.
As the countdown begins to Spain’s biggest festival, we can now announce the final line-up that will be gracing the collection of newly-expanded stages in Barcelona.
The one and only prodigal Canadian
The mesmerisingly talented, precocious genius and virtuoso violinist that is Owen Pallett will land on this year’s Sónar by Day to perform sounds that resonate with those featured on his latest LP “In Conflict”. The Canadian extraordinaire will be met onstage by a host of artists and collaborations including Arcade Fire and Beirut, along with musical highlights from the world of cinema and opera that span Pallett’s accomplished and prolific career.
Electro, disco and synth pop pioneer
Straight after Pallett’s concert, Alfred Baker will set the stage for a blend of electro and New York hip hop. The legendary producer, whose work includes Afrika Bambaataa’s “Planet Rock” has the Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Al Green and Bob Dylan, to name just a few, on his CV. The innovative remixer and key figure will also introduce and talk about his latest documentary “808 The Movie” at Sónar + D. This be an extra treat as the likes of Tiga, Damon Albarn, Goldie, 2manydjs, Francois Kevorkian and Afrika Bambaataa will also touchdown to discuss the Roland TR-808 drum machine.
The complete programme for this year’s Sónar is a collection of the globe’s finest artists in electronic music and innovation and cultivation.
