Wacken Open Air (also known as W:O:A) is an annual heavy metal festival that takes place in North Germany every summer.
Known to attract an attendance of up to 80,000, the event focuses on metal and rock sub-genres such as black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, gothic metal, nu metal, folk metal and metalcore.

Tickets
Tickets will cost €140, plue €10 fr booking and postage, tickets can be purchased from Metaltix. The tickets are personalized and their is strict rules that state resells can only be done via metaltix.com.

Accommodation
WOA HOTEL PACKAGES
The Metal Travel reservation system for booking WOA hotel packages, with or without festival tickets, is now online. It's easy to do and you will receive your confirmation, including your travel voucher, right after you have completed your reservation successfully.
Among all participants who have completed a hotel package reservation until Feb 28th 2013, organisers will draw a free package. The winner will be announced on May 01st 2013 on www.metaltravel.de and www.wacken.com, and the organisers will refund the package fee. Fees for festival tickets will not be refunded.
Hotels are available in St. Michaelisdonn, Bad Bramstedt, and Albersdorf. Packages include single, double or group accommodation incl. breakfast, festival ticket if needed, Metal Travel guide in the hotel and daily roundtrip transfers between your hotel and the festival site.

Trivia
Since 2002, the local volunteer fire department band, Wacken Firefighters opens the festival. 2012 marked the seventh year in a row where the event sold out.

The 2012 lineup included Amon Amarth, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgit, HammerFall, Kylesa, Ozzy Osbourne, Suicidal Tendencies, As I Lay Dying, Trivum, Gojira, Voivod, W.A.S.P, Bring Me The Horizon, Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine, Cathedral, Volbeat, 3 Inches Of Blood, Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Mahinehead and many more.
