Arts & Creative
Land of Kings is as much a festival of theatre, arts and creativity as much as it is a festival of music. This year (2012) Land of Kings brings installations and shows from Hackney Film Festival, Classic Album Sundays, Hammer & Tongues, Literary Deathmatch, Dalston Darlings Women’s Institute and the lauded Punchdrunk’s-sister company, Gideon Reeling.
The Austerity Games will also inject some irreverence to the proceedings, taking punters to the surreal depths of a bunker beneath Dalston’s main drag for a series of random encounters.
Elsewhere N16’s (N16 is the postcode for the Dalston/Stoke Newington area) warehouse theatre company, Stoke Newington International Airport, will present their world-travelling, one-to-one performance concept night – Live Art Speed Date whilst hyper-local Kings of the airwaves London Fields Radio will invite punters and performers to drop in to their special onsite station.
Land of Kings prides itself on using a range of interesting locations as music venues, clubs, mini-theatres, art installations and pop-up restaurants during the festival.
As in previous years, in 2012 Land of Kings acts will appear at Turkish restaurants, backstreet warehouses and east London caverns.
