Bilbao BBK Live is a rock festival that takes place annually in Bilbao, Spain. Held every summer the event is sponsered by BBK, the savings bank.

It's history of prestigious head liners has established the event, as one of the major European festivals to attend. Previous headline highlights include Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Coldplay, RHCP and Suede.

Vibe

Bilbao BBK Live has the formula for an almost perfect festival. The main arena's don't open till 4pm so you have the day to either enjoy sunny Spain or rest your pickled hangover.

There is a dedicated chillout are near the main arena, and a promise to their fans attending, that not many of the headlining acts will overlap.

Bilbao BBK Live is above all a fuss free festival; with an uncomplicated layout, easy access from the city and airport it has proven to be a huge success with national and international festival goers.

Stages and other entertainment

The two main stages are organised so that most of the acts don't overlap, so you can see all your favourites and get your moneys worth.

There are two dance tents, a pop tent, food stalls, a chill out area and a campsite. Doors open at 4pm every day, and close at 3am every night.2012 will also see the introduction of a third stage, bringing more international acts to the event.

Three Day Ticket incl. camping (until it reaches full capacity) – £85 plus booking fee; Day Tickets £42.50 plus booking fee, all available on See Tickets and Ticketweb.

Children

The festival offers the following advice for Families:

"People under 18 will only be able to access the festival site accompanied by an adult. The adult will be in charge of the security and well-being of the minor during the festival. At the festival entrance the security staff will ask for an identification card (ID card or passport)."

"The venue does not provide facilities for children under 8. The festival organization recommends not to bring children under 8 both because of the music volume and because of the amount of people gathering. However, if you decide to bring children under 8, they will be able attend the festival free of charge."

Location

Bilbao is located on the north coast of Spain. Kobetamendi is a 10 min bus ride from Bilbao city centre.

Travel

Two low cost airlines operate direct flights from London to Bilbao. Check Easyjet (from Stansted) and Vueling (from Heathrow). Easyjet also operates direct flights from Manchester to Bilbao during the summer.

Ryanair operates daily flights to Santander, just an hour bus ride to Bilbao.

From Bilbao airport there are regular public buses to central Bilbao. Once in central Bilbao the festival provides shuttle buses to the site.

Buses will be functioning 24 hours a day and the service will be increased in the peak hours.

Camping

There are two camping areas available for the Bilbao BBK Live Festival audience. Both camping areas are located just a few meters away from the entrance of the Festival venue.

No vehicles will have access to the camping area (caravans, vans, cars, motorcycles,…). Vehicles will have to be left in the parking areas and the free buses will be used to go up to the Festival venue.

Doors will open at 5pm on Thursday 7th of July and at 4:30pm on Friday and Saturday 8th and 9th respectively.

Site Information

There will be chemical toilets all around the concert venue. Doors will open Thursday 9th July at 16.30pm.

Food and drink

You will find bars in different places of the concert venue where you can buy mineral water, beer, energetic drinks, sandwiches etc.

If you want to buy food and drinks you will have to purchase the tickets provided for such purpose in the different boxes all around the concert venue.

Headliners for Bilbao BBK Live 2012 included Radiohead, The Cure and Snow Patrol.For details on the full line-up, click here.

Klaxons were due to appear at the event, however they have decided to cancel all summer bookings, to concentrate on new material.

The 2011 programme featured Coldplay, Blondie, Crystal Castles, Suede, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, The Mars Volta, The Noisettes, The Chemical Brothers, Jack Johnson, 30 Seconds To Mars, Seasick Steve and Les Savy Fav.
