Bearded Theory Festival

Bearded Theory is a three day music festival held in the iconic grounds of Kedleson Hall in Derbyshire. It is the largest performing and creative arts festival in the Midlands area.

The festival is also famous for it's love of beards, every year the festival attempts to break the world record, for the most amount of people wearing a fancy dress beards in one place and at one time

Vibe

The festival has been dubbed "the best non corporate family festival experience", and the wearing of fake or real beards adds a novelty fun aspect to the festival.

Stages and other entertainment

As well as all the great live music, there are plenty of other things going on around the festival such as, the Angel Gardens where there are workshops and activities;

The Something-Else Tent which is great place for relaxing and chilling out on their comfy cushions whilst enjoying a drink from their vast Fair Trade hot drinks menu; and much more.

There is a children's area (one and a half acre large) which offers everything from a children's open mic stage, climbing wall, zip lines, play ground, toddler area, tree houses, circus skills, arts and crafts, story tellers, children's carnival, disco tent and loads more.

There is also the Magical Sounds Dance Tent which showcases the cutting edge in dance music.

Tickets

The early bird tickets have sold out. A weekend camping Thursday ticket is priced at £89, and camping from Friday is priced at £79. A 13-16 year old weekend ticket is priced at £40 or £45 including early entry Thursday, a child's aged 6-12 weekend tickets is priced at £10 whether for arrival on Thursday or Friday, children aged 5 and under are free and Family Tickets are priced at £230 (2 x adult & 2 x children) or £260 with Thursday entry. All children must be accompanied by responsible adult. No day tickets will be released for sale for the 2013 festival

Bearded Theory is located in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District between Derby and Ashbourne. The festival is hosted at Kedleston Hall a stately home ran by the National Trust..

Camping

The campsite is around a 5 minute walk, it’s on the opposite side of the river and you have to walk over a bridge to get to the campsite.

There will be the usual luggage crew taking your camping gear into the campsite for you and new for 2011 was a rent-a-wheelbarrow housed in the car park.

Site Information

Bearded Theory does have ATM Machines located near the main bar however we do accept all major credit and debit cards in the merchandise stall.

Food and drink

You can bring your own alcohol to the festival in moderation but please be aware that anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 will be asked for valid ID if seen consuming alcohol or bringing alcohol into the festival.

Unlike many festivals you can consume your own alcohol in the arena. Bearded Theory boasts 3 fantastic ons-ite bar which offers a great choice of real ales, ciders, spirits, lagers, wines and soft drinks.

They have a great range of food outlets at the festival catering for all food tastes. All their food vendors have been picked to provide good quality organic foods at sensible prices.

Bearded Theory Festival will be celebrating its fifth successful year in 2012 and is enjoying being the fastest growing UK Festival.

Every year Bearded Theory attempts to break the world record for the most amount of people wearing a fancy dress beards in one place and at one time. In 2010, Bearded Theory Festival created the record with just over 1800 people donning their hairy creations.

Having only been founded in 2007, the festivals has had four consecutive sell outs from 2008-2011.

The festival has also won or been nominated for the following awards:

  • Best New Festival Runner Up - UK Festival Awards 2008
  • Promoter Of The Year Runner Up - UK Festival Awards 2009
  • Shortlisted for Best Family Festival Award on 3 occasions
  • Winner of UK's Best Independent Festival Award - AIM Music Awards
